We are seeking an MSc student!

We are looking for a prospective MSc student to support us with an early-stage qualitative study funded by the Heart and Stroke Foundation. The student should be interested in understanding the poststroke needs and experiences of patients and caregivers who identify as ethnic minorities (i.e., Black, South Asian, Chinese communities). Our goal is to inform the development of community-based stroke programs that are specific to the needs and experiences of these communities.


Your role would involve:

​

1. Assisting with study administration including contacting participants for interviews

2. Supporting the preparation of data collection materials (e.g., interview guides)

3. Collecting qualitative data (e.g., conducing interviews)

4. Assisting in the preparation of study materials 

5. facilitating committee meetings

6. Data entry 

7. Transcription

8. Assisting with qualitative data analyses 

9. Conducting literature reviews 

10. Assisting with drafting manuscripts and conference presentations for publication.

What you can expect to gain from this role:

​

1. An understanding of cultural factors influencing post-stroke experiences and uptake of services among patients and caregivers who identify as an ethnic minority (i.e., Black, South Asian, Chinese populations).

​

2. Familiarity with innovative qualitative methods (i.e., photo-voice) as a way to understand post-stroke experiences.

​

3. Opportunities to work alongside and network with a host of healthcare professionals.

​
